Wallaceburg Minor Baseball Code of Conduct for Umpires
All umpires while working for WMBA shall be obligated to a strict DRESS CODE consisting of the following:
TRAVEL GAMES
Heather Gray DRESS PANTS
BLACK SHOES (SPIKES)
Black Jacket (WHEN NEEDED)
Black Golf SHIRT may have a powder blue shirt as a second shirt
Black CAP
This dress code shall be strictly enforced except in emergency.
A first offence shall result in a one [1] week suspension
A second such offence shall be an indefinite suspension, and they will not return until a meeting with the WMBA officials and the umpire in chief to determine further actions.
All assignments will be given out a week ahead of time when applicable. All changes and or cancellations shall be given within twenty-four [24] hours of game time.
All umpires shall enforce all official rules, except where superseded by WMBA CONSTITUTION.
If an umpires misses a game he/she will receive a warning on the first offense, second offense is forfeit of a game fee and the third offense is an appearance before the board.
All suspensions are to be handled through the league convener through the UMPIRE IN CHIEF.
Umpires are not responsible for setting suspensions or carrying out suspensions directly from the manager or coach.
All umpires must maintain professionalism on and off the field failure to do so will result in disciplinary actions.
Umpires will receive tournament assignments based on their umpiring abilities not on their years of service or umpiring level.
All umpires have the authority to rule on any point or rule not specifically covered by the official O.B.A. rules of play, Baseball Canada or the WMBA CONSTITUTION.
Umpires who start a game a home plate must continue at that position for the duration of the game except in case of said umpire is injured during his duties.
In the event of an ejection of a home team player manager or coach from a game, the umpire who made the ejection must fill out an O.B.A. UMPIRE REPORT directly after the game. The report shall be given to his/her umpire in chief who will then give it to the PRESIDENT of the WMBA the original copy of the umpires report within twenty-four [24] hours of the offence. Failure to do so could result in pays to be withheld for the game in question.
Wallaceburg Minor Baseball will follow the following guideline for their code of conduct:
Actions
Always model mature behaviour consistent with that of Baseball Ontario's Guidelines
for Behaviour:
• Conduct organization as an ambassador of Baseball Ontario and Wallaceburg Minor Baseball.
• Follow all Baseball Ontario policies and procedures.
• Refrain from negative communications with or against any other member of the club.
• Support the game of baseball!
• Avoid spectator-imposed pressures to win.
• Be supportive of the athlete, team, coach, opponents and officials.
• Maintain a supportive, constructive environment for all participants.
• Be a Leader, a positive influence and role model.
Possible scenarios for coaches and players including infractions:
Ejections from game first offense sit out for 2 games (not including the game they have been ejected from) Second game the board reviews the ejection.
►Repeated ejections from games during their coaching career or playing career will be reviewed by the executive of Wallaceburg Minor Baseball and if need Western Counties or Baseball Ontario.
►Any person drinking alcohol before a will result these players not playing the game and possibly having further consequences and will be reported to Wallaceburg Minor Baseball executive. Any drinking before a game by minors will be resulted by a suspension until a board meeting where the players and/or coach will be present.
►Any player/coach who puts hands on an official will result in automatic suspension until the board reviews the case.
Depending on the severity of the ejection that is made the board has the right review each case individually to determine a penalty
Umpires
►Out of uniform will be a call from the mentor with the expectation that they will be in full uniform for their next game.
Repeated infractions of the uniform policy will result in the suspension of the umpire until a proper uniform is purchased.
►Umpires late for a game will result in a call from the mentor.
►Being continuously late for games will result in less games and loss of tournaments
►Missing a game will result in a call from the mentor, second offense forfeit of a game fee, third offense suspended for a min of a week and potential loss of umpiring duties.
►If an umpire is ejected out of a game while playing baseball, or showing unsportsmanlike conduct towards umpires while playing will result in a meeting with the umpire assigner, mentor and the executive to determine a disciplinary action.
A player who puts his/her hands on an official (pushes, hits etc.) will be automatically suspended until the incident is reviewed by the board.
►Umpires who are watching a game will show sportsmanship towards players, umpires and other spectators. Disciplinary action will occur to umpires who do not follow the code of conduct. This will be on an individual basis, the umpire assigner; mentor and executive will be present for a disciplinary action.
If such an occurrence happens this must be reported to the umpire assigner or mentor immediately.
Spectators
If a spectator shows unsportsmanlike conduct towards the officials/players, coaches or other spectators they will be asked to leave the park. Continually showing unsportsmanlike conduct may result in a ban from the park(s).
